Ealing Jazz Festival celebrates its silver jubilee in Walpole Park

THE 2010 Ealing Jazz Festival gets under way next week, marking the event’s silver jubilee.

Based at Walpole Park, Mattock Lane, it offers five days’ worth of top flight musical entertainment.

Things get going next Wednesday (July 28) from 7.30pm, with Vasilis Xenopoulos and the Xtet taking to the main stage, followed by the Frank Griffith Nonet at around 9.15pm.

There will also be a jam session with George Arnold on the Crypt Stage between 7-9pm.

Other artists performing during the festival include Gary Crosby and Tomorrow’s Warriors; Andrew Butcher and Butcher’s Brew; Ray Gelato Giants; Nick Mills and the Bluenote Project; Gill Cook Quintet; Ken McCarthy Seven; Adrian Macintosh Quintet; Keith Waithe and the Macusi Players; Chris Hodgkins & Harlem Airshaft; Paul Carmichael’s Flight; Xantone Blacq’s Fewture; Jack Honeyborne Quintet; Liz Fletcher; Ken Baldock Memorial Quintet; Winston Morson’s Off The Cuff; Claire Davies Quintet; Swingin’ For Roland; Dick Esmond’s Sound of 17 Big Band.

The festival forms part of the Ealing Summer entertainments, which also include regular fixtures like the Ealing Comedy Festival and Ealing Opera in the Park.

Admission is £1; entry for children aged 12 and under is free.
